13 m² of Creative Freedom: Introducing EIGHT Artist Residency
An invitation to emerging artists to rethink space, challenge conventions, and bring unexpected ideas to life.
What can an artist create within 13 square metres?
At EIGHT, we believe the possibilities are far greater than the space itself.
We are pleased to introduce EIGHT Artist Residency, a new independent initiative in Warsaw dedicated to supporting emerging artistic talent and encouraging creative experimentation.
The idea is simple: we provide the space, and artists bring their vision.
A Small Space for Big Ideas
Hidden beneath historic brick vaults, our 13 m² space offers an intimate and unconventional setting for artistic exploration.
Its exposed brick walls, distinctive architectural character, and atmospheric surroundings make it more than a traditional exhibition venue. It is a space with its own identity — one that invites artists to engage with its history, physical limitations, and unexpected possibilities.
Rather than defining what belongs within these walls, we want to discover what artists can imagine for them.
An installation that transforms the architecture. A sculptural intervention that challenges our perception of scale. An immersive visual experience. A conceptual project that exists somewhere between art, design, and performance.
We are interested in ideas that surprise us.
Creative Freedom Without a Prescribed Formula
EIGHT Artist Residency is built around a belief that meaningful artistic expression requires independence.
There is no predetermined theme, preferred medium, or prescribed aesthetic direction.
We welcome proposals across disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, installation, performance, conceptual art, and experimental practices.
Artists are encouraged to approach the space as an opportunity to explore their own ideas, rather than adapt their work to conventional exhibition expectations.
We are not looking for a particular style of art. We are looking for a distinctive artistic perspective.
Supporting the Next Generation of Artists
EIGHT has always existed at the intersection of fashion, art, design, and contemporary culture.
With this initiative, we want to extend that dialogue by creating opportunities for emerging artists to experiment, develop their ideas, and introduce their work to new audiences.
We believe that artistic potential should not be measured solely by institutional recognition, academic credentials, or previous exhibitions.
Sometimes, the most compelling ideas come from those who have not yet had the opportunity to realise them.
Our ambition is to make EIGHT a place where those ideas can find space, visibility, and a meaningful connection with the wider creative community.
An Open Invitation
EIGHT Artist Residency is open to emerging artists and independent creatives who have a compelling idea for our 13 m² space.
Each proposal will be considered individually, with the residency format, duration, and practical arrangements shaped around the nature of the project.
We are particularly interested in original, site-specific concepts that engage with the character of the space, challenge expectations, or introduce unexpected perspectives.
There is no need for an elaborate application. A short description of your idea, together with a portfolio or examples of previous work, is enough to start a conversation.
The Space Is Yours to Reimagine
Thirteen square metres may seem like a limitation.
We see it as a starting point.
An invitation to think differently about scale, artistic freedom, and the relationship between an idea and the environment in which it takes shape.
13 m². No Prescribed Boundaries.
We provide the space. You bring the vision.
